It has been so quiet here at Hoe Grange and we really miss all our holiday guests! Whilst our farm has been the perfect place to be locked down, we have missed the human interaction, chatting about our local area, farming life and how we started our holiday business. And not just the humans! Oliver has missed riding out with other horses who have come on holiday.
During lockdown we have all tried to remain positive and what better way than dreaming of summer holidays and escaping to the country for a UK staycation instead of travelling abroad.
No more hanging around at the airport, hustling through security before being cramped up in your seat on the plane for hours. I have always believed that you don’t have to go far to go on holiday – now it seems like we have little choice!
A staycation or holistay here in the UK means you don’t have to spend hours travelling, but you get all the benefits of being away from home. Away from everyday life where you can forget about all those little household chores and DIY jobs that are on your to do list!
After a short drive, when you arrive on your staycation you can truly switch off, relax and enjoy quality time with family and friends. As farmers we always struggle to get away for long as we have to find someone to look after all the farm animals. Two or three shorter staycations are ideal for us rather than one longer summer holiday. We find that a simple change of scenery can make all the difference to how you feel and can be just as rejuvenating as a longer holiday. Best of all, a series of short staycations means that you have more exciting adventures to look forward to!
It’s often said that you don’t always know and appreciate what’s on your doorstep. Surprisingly people are often unaware of everything their local area has to offer. David has lived on the farm all his life, but welcoming holiday guests has encouraged us to discover more lesser known hidden gems in our #uniquedistrict. We have partnered up with other local businesses such as My Guided Walks, so you can make the most of your stay.
During lockdown we have all been compelled to explore our local area and have found there is so many things to do, like, and! The UK offers such a fabulous mix of landscapes and culture, from the sunny beaches and fishing villages of Cornwall, through the dramatic moorlands of our stunning Peak District to the snow-capped Scottish mountains and everything in between!
We are exceptionally lucky to live and work in such a stunning and beautiful area. There is a reason the Peak District was designated as the first National Park!
Our farm is such a tranquil, peaceful place with stunning views, where you can truly unwind. With the new roadmap in place, the birds twittering in the trees and the daffodils poking their heads up, there is a real feeling of Spring. With better days ahead we are so looking forward to sharing our corner of the Peak District with you all again soon.
Staycations are the perfect way to celebrate special occasions. Whether it’s a romantic stay just for two or a fun packed family celebration, let us help you to surprise your loved ones.
Making memorable moments to cherish is what we are all about. Relax in the log-fired hot tub under the stars, have fun baking pizzas in the outdoor oven, whizz up the hills on our electric bikes, or order a delicious take away from our local pub.
Make use of our expert local knowledge; we've made it our mission to know all the best places to eat and explore when you stay with us!
So why not escape to the Peak District to explore everything this diverse area has to offer and to make new memories together. We hold Visit England “We’re Good To Go” certification and our rural location is as safe & secure as possible.
We are taking bookings from 12th April for one household, and from 17th May for two households or a rule of six group. You have the added reassurance of our flexible booking policy, so you can cancel up to 14 days before arrival for any reason and get a full refund, or up to 2 days before due to Covid.
We are so looking forward to hearing the chatter and laughter of guests on site bringing the place back to life and hope to welcome you soon! Since the Government roadmap was announced on Monday we have had a flurry of bookings, so don’t delay and book your staycation in the Peak District today.
