At Hoe Grange, we believe accessible holidays are about more than grab rails and ramps (though those can help too!). It’s about independence, freedom and the joy of doing something just because you want to.
We work with a wide range of accessible outdoor activity and equipment providers, because we know that everyone's needs and interests are different. All these inclusive outdoor activities in the Peak District are within easy reach of Hoe Grange.
Some you can just turn up and enjoy. Some need a bit of planning. All are worth it!
Accessible and easy access walks in the Peak District
Discover step‑free, gently graded Miles without Stiles routes designed for everyone. These smooth paths run through stunning countryside, perfect for walking, wheeling or rolling with friends and family.
There are plenty of great options in the Peak District, including Dovedale, Manifold Way, Parsley Hay and Tideswell Dale.
The Peak District National Park also has autism-friendly sensory trails - a fantastic way to experience the outdoors differently. Use their trail maps or take inspiration from their design for your own nature walk.

Accessible cycle or Tramper hire
- Parsley Hay: tricycles, a tricycle tandem, electric wheelchair bikes and Trampers.
- Middleton Top Cycle Hire: Trampers and e-bikes.
- Monsal Trail: accessible tricycles, wheelchair platform bike and electric Babboe cargo tricycle and tandems.
Guided e-trike rides
- Peak ePedals: guided and self-guided tours of the Peak District on eTrikes, from 30 minute taster sessions to full-day mixed group outings.
Accessible adventures in or on the water
Head to Carsington Water for Sailability dingy sailing on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Experience wheely boat and castability fishing for all with panoramic views at Ladybower Reservoir.
Explore Cromford Canal onboard Birdswood canal boat.
Take a wheelchair friendly motorboat trip up the river at Matlock Bath Pleasure Boats.
Take a dip at Hathersage Outdoor Swimming Pool, where there is an accessible changing room and a mobile hoist.
Go swimming indoors at Arc Leisure Centre Matlock.
Accessible horse riding in Derbyshire & the Peak District
Experience riding and carriage driving for the disabled at Scropton. They also offer ground-based activities with horses which is a great introduction and confidence builder.
Mid Derbyshire Riding for the Disabled offer therapeutic riding sessions at Tansley.
Buxton Riding School has a hoist and instructors who are qualified to support riders with disabilities and/or mobility impairments.
Parkside Stables doesn't have a hoist, so you need to be able to get on using a mounting block, but they offer assisted riding lessons for people with limited mobility and neurodiverse riders.
Accessible climbing, caving, abseiling and more
Acclimbatize offer adapted activities across the Peak District, from climbing to canoeing, bushcraft to caving, abseiling to team challenges.
Dukes Barn Outdoor Activity Centre near Beeley offer thrilling adapted outdoor adventure sessions, mostly focussed on children and young people with additional needs.
Lea Green near Matlock provides accessible activities from archery to bushcraft, climbing to paddle boarding, skyline and wheelchair abseiling - among other things! There's also an accessible outdoor sensory play area.
If you're an experienced independent climber, check out Horseshoe Quarry near Stoney Middleton, which had some improvements in 2025 to help more people access the site, including a wheelchair-friendly gate.
Go underground and explore Poole’s Cavern. The main chamber of this magnificent limestone chamber is step-free, wheelchair accessible and well lit.
