Wheelchair accessible shower rooms
The shower rooms in Hipley, Daisybank and Rainster are easily accessible from the twin bedroom and have been designed as wheel-in wet rooms, with hand support rails, plenty of transfer space and an adjustable shower head with thermostatic control. All taps are level operated and there is a choice of mobile shower chairs available should you need one. There are drop down support bars on both sides of the toilet. Daisybank and Rainster also have Pressalit Care adjustable wash basins, which can be raised in height and can be moved away from the toilet allowing space for carers to give assistance from either side. Hipley has a Closomat wash and dry toilet with remote control.
Electric profile beds and mobile hoists
We believe in making life easy! In our accessible log cabins in the twin bedrooms, there is one single electric profile bed, with sufficient clear space under the bed to use a mobile hoist, which you can book free of charge. Choose either the Oxford Advance mobile hoist or the Ardoo Caresafe 140 hoist and stand aid. Rainster and Hipley have Volker profile beds which are also height adjustable with pull up cot sides.
Comfort and style
For added comfort and if you need extra assistance getting to your feet, Daisybank, Rainster, Hipley and Pinder all have electric rise and recline armchairs. Great attention has been given to detail to make your life easier without compromising on style. We provide specially designed wardrobes with shelving and lower clothes rails, light switches within easy reach and doors that don't get in the way. The kitchen has good low-level storage space and you can easily reach all the appliances from a wheelchair.
Additional equipment and care services
We offer a wide range of extra equipment to make your stay as hassle-free as possible. Please take a look at all the extra disabled equipment you can book for accessible holidays.
If you're looking for bespoke care packages for your holiday, contact One to One Support Services and ask to speak to Keran. They are usually able to offer support if you contact them more than a month before your holiday. If you need care at shorter notice or One to One Support Services are unavailable, please get in touch with us by email or phone and we will ask our local contacts for their availability.
Partially sighted or blind
The cabins have features designed for people who are partially sighted or blind and are spacious with level thresholds throughout. For holiday guests with partial eyesight, the door frames and skirting boards, door handles and hand rails are of contrasting colours. To aid vision, there is a good level of lighting throughout and there is a bright reading lamp in the lounge and touch lamps in the bedrooms.
Hard of hearing or d/Deaf
For guests who are hard of hearing or d/Deaf, our televisions have subtitle facilities and the alarm clocks have flashing lights and vibrating modes. You can book a portable flashing/vibrating Deafgard alarm which can be used in any of the cabins to alert you in an emergency. The portable induction hearing loop can easily be used in any of our self-catering log cabins. The easy-to-use, rechargable, portable loop system enables people with a hearing aid with a T setting to hear more clearly, without annoying background noises. This means they can listen to television independently of the volume control on the TV so as not to disturb others.

Dogs welcome
We're more than dog-friendly at Hoe Grange Holidays - dogs (and other pets!) are actively welcomed.
Let us know you're bringing your dog with you and we'll pop a doggy welcome pack with lots of essentials in your accommodation ready for your arrival so you can pack light. Find out more on our dog-friendly holidays page.
With plenty of space to spend a penny or relax when they're not working, it's a great place to bring your assistance dog too. There's a £100 refundable deposit for pets, which is returned after your stay - but this is waived for assistance animals, so please let us know when you book.
Accessible transport guide
Hoe Grange is in a rural location and public transport is limited - but there are some useful options for getting here and exploring the area without a car if you have accessibility needs.
Swifty's Taxis provide wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly taxis in the area. Based in Belper, they can pick you up from local train stations including Cromford or even the airport, or take you to one of the many great accessible attractions in the Peak District for a day out. Give them a call on 01773 292020 to book in advance.
Derbyshire Connect is a Dial-A-Bus public transport service offering passengers flexible journeys, rather than fixed routes with timetabled pick up and drop off points. The service is wheelchair accessible and has room for bicycles too. Book your journey to or from Hoe Grange up to 7 days in advance and explore the local area - call 01335 342951 or email bookings@derbyshireconnect.co.uk.
If you come by car, all our log cabins have roomy disabled parking with direct level access to the front door.
Why choose Hoe Grange over other accessible cottages?
Our cosy cabins have been designed with access in mind from the very beginning. A wheelchair friendly cottage is often an older building adapted for wheelchair access, with the limitations of the original design dictating floor levels and door widths. In contrast our wheelchair accessible lodges benefit from thoughtful design, with all the features you would expect from any disabled holiday cottage. Enjoy not only the necessary features, but tons of space and level floors, making getting around a piece of cake. The log cabins are also cosier than a traditional cottage; fully centrally heated with double glazing and all the mod cons that you would expect, including LCD TV, DVD, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. And they're not only impressive on the inside. Sit back and relax and take in the views over the striking limestone rocks and the undulating farm fields of the Peak District. We look forward to welcoming you to our disabled holiday accommodation, right in the heart of the beautiful Peak District.
