Browse through our blog posts to find out what life is like at Hoe Grange Holidays along with some great ideas for days out in the Peak District.
Everyone should be able to enjoy the fresh air and beauty of the countryside without barriers and obstacles getting in the way. That’s why the Peak District’s Miles without Stiles routes are such a joy. They’re accessible, gently graded, and full of unforgettable views - whether you’re walking, wheeling, or strolling with friends and family.
Even better? You can explore many of them from your base at Hoe Grange Holidays. Stay in one of our accessible log cabins and you’ll have peaceful countryside, warm hospitality and accessible adventures right on your doorstep.
Miles without Stiles are walking routes for everyone. Here in the Peak District National Park, there are 20 official routes to choose from – all tried and tested and ready to open up the countryside to more people. Whether you’re a wheelchair user, have a pushchair in tow, or simply prefer gentler gradients and smoother surfaces, there are plenty of choices.
These routes avoid steps, stiles, and steep slopes. Many are surfaced trails or wide bridleways, often following old railway lines through scenic valleys. For guests with mobility needs, they offer confidence and freedom to explore at your own pace - without having to double-check every path ahead.
We’ve rounded up our five favourite Miles without Stiles routes – all within a short drive of your cabin door. Each offers something a little different, whether you're looking for riverside calm, café stops or sweeping views.

📍15-minute drive | ♿ Level, surfaced trail | 🚻 Changing Places toilet
Distance: 4km one-way
A brilliant starter walk for all abilities. This gentle trail follows part of the Tissington Trail – a disused railway with stunning Peak District views. Start at Parsley Hay where you’ll find level access, a bike hire centre (which also hires Trampers and accessible trikes), and a small café for a post-walk treat.
Why we love it: Big skies, easy wheeling, and the option to carry on further along the trail if energy allows.
Local tip: Stop at the café for homemade cakes, or bring a picnic to enjoy at one of the accessible benches dotted along the route. You can also check out the amazing Life Of Pippa's recent trip down the trail on a hired Tramper if you want to see what it's like before you visit!

📍20-minute drive | ♿ Level riverside path | 🚻 Accessible toilets at car park
Distance: 640m one-way
Dovedale is one of the Peak District’s most iconic spots. The full path to the stepping stones can be rocky and uneven, but the Miles without Stiles route takes you along the first section of riverside path, giving you a taste of the gorgeous limestone valley without the tricky bits.
Why we love it: Flat riverside path, peaceful water views, and birdwatching galore.
Local tip: Arrive early to beat the crowds, especially during school holidays. There’s an accessible toilet near the car park at the start of the route and it’s a popular haunt for ice cream vans on a sunny day!

📍25-minute drive | ♿ Wide, surfaced path | 🚻 Accessible toilet in Waterhouses
Distance: 2.8km one-way
Once a narrow-gauge railway, the Manifold Way is now a smooth multi-user path through one of the quieter Peak District valleys. The Waterhouses section is our go-to: perfect for a leisurely ramble or wheel without the crowds, and you get to see the lofty arch of Thor’s Cave above.
Why we love it: Quiet, shady, and rich in wildlife. Great for a longer stroll or handcycle ride.
Local tip: Want to refresh and relax your brain as you explore? Check out the Manifold Way Sensory Trail for ideas to engage with this gorgeous river valley on a deeper level.

📍20-minute drive | ♿ Grit path, gentle slope | 🚻 No toilets nearby, plan ahead
Distance: 510m one-way
This lesser-known route takes you into the beautiful Lathkill valley, with limestone cliffs, crystal-clear water and kingfishers if you’re lucky. Start at Conksbury Bridge for a peaceful out-and-back route with just enough adventure.
Why we love it: Hidden gem, full of nature – and much quieter than Dovedale.
Local tip: No facilities at the car park, so bring drinks and snacks. The grit surface is firm but may be soft after rain – best tackled on dry days.

📍25-minute drive | ♿ Flat, surfaced former railway | 🚻 Accessible toilets and café at Hassop Station
Distance: 11.5km one-way (though you can make it shorter!)
The Monsal Trail is a showstopper – eight miles of sweeping views, a soaring viaduct, and atmospheric tunnels. Start at Hassop Station for the most accessible section, and enjoy a relaxing roll through tunnels and woodland to Great Longstone and back.
Why we love it: Feels like a proper adventure – with the bonus of a café at both ends.
Local tip: Hassop Station has an excellent accessible café and bookshop, plus good parking. Bring a head torch for the tunnels, even in daylight!
There are some amazing routes to explore right from your accessible log cabin door. There are some incredible views from the High Peak Trail, and plenty of short loops to discover. Here are two of our most loved routes from the farm!

📍From your doorstep at Hoe Grange Holidays | ♿ No stiles but route takes in fields as well as flat, surfaced former railway - suitable for all-terrain wheelchairs
Distance: 3.4 miles round-trip
We're absolutely thrilled that the Peak District National Park have made some improvements recently, creating a more accessible route to our favourite local spot, Minninglow.
This hilltop Neolithic burial ground has spectacular views over the rolling countryside and the ancient tombs and fairytale-esque woodland make for a magical spot. With a distinctive double ring of trees, you can spot it from miles around.
This route is perfect for all-terrain wheelchairs like our Boma7 off-road wheelchair, or if you just want to avoid those pesky stiles!
Why we love it: It's such a peaceful spot. It's incredible to think of our ancestors visiting this important place for thousands of years - you can't help but feel connected to the history of the breathtaking landscape around you!

📍From your doorstep at Hoe Grange Holidays | ♿ No stiles but route over lanes and fields - suitable for all-terrain wheelchairs
Distance: 6.2 miles round-trip
Fancy a good old pub walk? We’ve mapped a more accessible countryside route that starts right here at Hoe Grange and winds its way to the charming local village of Parwich.
It’s a quiet route, suitable for off-road wheelchairs like our Boma 7 all-terrain wheelchair – though standard powerchairs would struggle with some of the terrain.
It’s about 3 miles each way, stopping off in the middle at the lovely Sycamore Inn – a classic Derbyshire pub with level access, tasty food, and cold drinks. There's also a lovely outdoor seating area in the garden. Just be warned there's a small step into the toilets!
Why we love it: Starts at your doorstep, ends with a pint. What more could you ask?

We have limited availability, so it’s best to book early and chat with us about your plans. It’s great for exploring the route to Parwich, or heading up to the High Peak Trail to enjoy some stunning views over the Peak District landscape. There's a new accessible route from the trail up to Minninglow too, where you can enjoy panoramic views across the hills.
Need something different? Parsley Hay, Carsington Water and other visitor centres nearby also hire Trampers to explore their local surroundings - we’re always happy to help you find the right fit.
Whether you’re wheeling through wildflower meadows, spotting dippers on a riverside path, or heading straight from your cabin to the pub, there’s something special about countryside freedom.
Our accessible log cabins give you a peaceful base to explore from – with the little details covered, so you can just enjoy the ride.
