Browse through our blog posts to find out what life is like at Hoe Grange Holidays along with some great ideas for hobbies and days out in the Peak District.
We are proud and delighted that Hoe Grange Holidays won a prestigious Silver Award for Sustainable Tourism for the second year running at the Visit England Excellence Awards 2013, "The Oscars" of the tourism world. David and I attended a black tie gala dinner at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Manchester this week, together with top tourism businesses from across England.
It was wonderful to be a national winner for the third year running, having been Gold winners for Access for All in 2011 and Silver winners for Sustainable Tourism in 2012. This year it was also a real achievement to be in the top 3 tourism businesses in two categories, as we also received Highly Commended in the Access for All category for our self catering holidays, where competition was particularly tough and we were up against some large scale organisations, such as the London Science Museum - not bad for simple farmers from Derbyshire!
Visit England’s Chief Executive, James Berresford, commented “The Visit England Awards for Excellence represent the highest accolade in English tourism, and this year’s winners have raised the bar higher than ever before. The awards champion the very best in quality and customer service, and continue to help raise standards across the industry, establishing England’s place as a world-class destination and a brilliant place to visit. The competition was fierce, so all our finalists are to be warmly congratulated for their success".
We feel extremely proud to have achieved such an honour, especially being a small family firm, up against so many large multimillion pound businesses. Both access and sustainability are issues close to our heart and form the foundations of our business. But above all else thanks go to you all, our guests, whose suggestions provide the drive for continued development and improvements in quality. You all make sharing our special Peak District landscape rewarding and worthwhile!
The evening was a wonderful celebration and double delight for the Peak District with our good friends Sue and Terry at Beechenhill Farm winning the Gold for Sustainable Tourism. Both of us demonstrate a high commitment to sustainability and are Peak District Environmental Quality Mark holders and have Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Awards.
