Awards, Derbyshire, Farm, General, Peak District, watercolour painting,Fabulous news about our resident artist Roger Allen, he has had his watercolour painting "Boy with a broken arm" accepted for the Royal Watercolour Society Open Competition. The painting is on display at the Bankside Gallery in London from now until 10th March 2011. Boy with a broken arm Roger's inspiration for this picture came from the formation of the background trees, which have already appeared in several of his other paintings. Time for some major maintenance In between getting the new Daisybank cabin up and running and while things are fairly quiet we have taken the opportunity to install new french doors in Hipley cabin. It is quite an exposed spot here in the Derbyshire hills and the old doors were beginning to let the wind and rain in. The new doors are a much higher specification, with K glass with a higher thermal value and a sturdy, tight fitting wood frame. This will hopefully reduce energy consumption and heating costs. Our two tractors used to tow the new Daisybank cabin into place last week have been back in action on the farm today as David has been muck spreading. Just in case you thought he never did any farm work I thought I would post up a few pictures!
