Tourism Minister John Penrose and Derbyshire Dales MP Patrick McLoughlin tested out the new electric bikes to experience first hand the vital role tourism plays in sustaining and stimulating the area's economy. An excellent evening was had by all last night at the Visit Peak District and Derbyshire Excel awards held at Chatsworth. The great and the good of the local tourism industry were celebrated in an Oscars style evening, including a three course meal with delicious local foods. I was particularly thrilled to receive the 'Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Award' .
