Sensory-friendly Christmas days out in the Peak District
Here at Hoe Grange, we love Christmas. But let’s be honest – it’s not always easy to find Christmas activities that work for the whole family.
The lights, the noise, the pressure to enjoy every moment – for many autistic children (and their grown-ups!), the festive season can feel more like hard work than a holiday.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
If you’re looking for a gentler kind of Christmas, with space to breathe, we’ve gathered some of the most autism-friendly festive experiences happening in Derbyshire and the Peak District this year. From relaxed Santa visits to sensory-aware pantos, these events are designed with autistic children in mind.
And if you need a base that offers calm, comfort and a warm welcome, our accessible and autism-friendly log cabins might be just the place!

That’s why our log cabins are designed to be peaceful, flexible and easy to settle into. You’ll have your own space to relax, cook familiar meals, and stick to whatever routine works best for your child.
Many families tell us the quiet farm setting helps everyone decompress after a busy day out.
And while you’re welcome to bring favourite toys or sensory items from home, we also offer a sensory activities box and a sensory weighted blanket for you to use during your stay free of charge.
We’re here to help you plan too – whether you want to come for a pre-booking visit, use our sensory story to help children know what to expect, or chat to us on the phone about your family’s needs. Every autistic person is different and we want you to feel confident before you arrive!
