We are absolutely thrilled to share our triple success at the recent Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards, held at The Museum of Making in Derby last week. Walking away with not just one but three awards was truly amazing.
Bagging the Bronze for Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year was an honour in itself. However, what truly made us proud was the two Gold Awards we received. One for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism, and the other for Ethical, Responsible, and Sustainable Tourism. It's particularly rewarding to excel in categories open to businesses of all sizes and types, not just accommodation providers.
Jo Dilley, Managing Director of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, rightly remarked, "The Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards are a celebration of all that’s great about our tourism industry locally, and recognize its vital importance to the local economy as well as the dedication of those who work in this important sector.
The quality and diversity of our tourism offer is inspiring, and it has been an immense privilege to bring together such a wide range of tourism-related businesses to pay tribute to their hard work. Congratulations to everyone!”
While hearing from you, our guests, about your wonderful experiences is immensely gratifying, receiving recognition from industry experts adds another layer of validation. It's a significant boost for our small, family-run business.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our exceptional housekeeping team, whose attention to detail ensures everything sparkles. Our local suppliers also deserve a huge round of applause for helping us create magical moments for guests. And, of course, our heartfelt thanks goes out to all our guests, especially those who have returned time and again, becoming friends along the way.
When we diversified from milking cows and took a leap of faith into the world of hospitality, we never imagined we would become leaders in our new field!
18 years on and our passion for sharing our peaceful haven in the Peak District remains undiminished. Our focus on guest experience, a warm welcome for all, and creating cherished memories continues to drive us forward.
Receiving these awards reaffirms our commitment to excellence, and we're determined to keep raising the bar.
We're equally passionate about responsible tourism, urging our visitors to join us in building a greener, more inclusive future. This is highlighted by our Green Tourism Gold Award where Hoe Grange Holidays achieved a whopping score of 89% in its latest annual assessment in February - on par with the highest scoring award holders across the country!
We're also proud to have our daughter Caroline on board, injecting fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Her storytelling prowess is invigorating our social media, including our new presence on TikTok. With her experience in larger organizations, she's also optimizing our systems, ensuring smooth operations, and keeping David and I on our toes!
Well, the possibility of winning another Visit England Awards for Excellence for our self-catering log cabins and glamping pods looms large. We won the Visit England Bronze Award for Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism in 2020. As Peak District Gold winners this year, we're thrilled to be nominated for the national awards in June, in both the accessible and sustainable categories. Wish us luck and we will of course let you know how we get on.
The awards ceremony was a true celebration of local tourism across various sectors. From pubs to restaurants, hotels to self-catering accommodation, camping to glamping, and exciting experiences to visitor attractions, it showcased the very best of our industry, emphasising quality, innovation, and best practices.
We're so proud to be part of such an outstanding visitor destination. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the other deserving Peak District Tourism Award winners. The standard was exceptionally high, and winning Bronze, Silver, or Gold reflects a total commitment to excellence. We encourage everyone to check out all the winners and support them on their next visit to the Peak District.
