Animals, Cows, Derbyshire, Family, Farm, Lambs, Peak District, Snow, Tourism,Spring is definitely in the air in the Derbyshire Peak District, despite the sudden return of harsh winter weather on Wednesday when we woke up to over a foot of snow, with drifts blocking the road. The sun is now shining again, which is just as well, as we have had a flurry of new arrivals over the last 3 days. 7 of the cows have had their calves, but most excitingly Elliot's sheep have had their first lambs. Accessible Holidays, Awards, Derbyshire, Eco, Food and drink, General, Tourism,Fantastic news, we have just heard that Hoe Grange Holidays has been selected as a finalist in the National Visit England Awards for Excellence for the second year running! This year we have been selected from a hotly contested field of candidates in the 'Sustainable Tourism' category. We have been invited to attend the Gala Presentation evening at the Athena, in Leicester on 22nd May, when we will find out whether we have won Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended. Patrick looked around our award winning, self catering log cabins and was interested to discuss the tourism industry at grass roots level. Although slightly different! Tedding the hay with a Model T Model T with mid mounted mower Great Grandpa's tractors were constructed in the 1930's using Ford Model T cars as their base. Tractors were hard to come by and expensive, so these machines were cleverly adapted for various jobs around the farm from cultivating, and mowing to tedding or turning the hay.
