Hoe Grange Holidays has been shortlisted as finalists in the National Visit England Exellence Awards 2013. This is the third year running that we have made the finals of what is known as the "Tourism Oscars". In 2011 we won the Gold Award in the Access for All category, then 2012 saw us win Silver in the Sustainable Tourism category. Wind power After leaving our foundations to cure for a few weeks the tower was erected last week, then ironically we had to wait for the wind to die down before completing the installation. On Tuesday, Leigh and Ed from Loyran Renewable Engineering came and raised the tower and switched the beast on. Construction has begun on our 10Kw Evoco wind turbine. The diggers moved in last week and started by digging a 240m trench to take the cables from the turbine to the farm, Cable trench but as this is Derbyshire we are bound to find a small stone or two and a rock breaker was sent for to finish off the job. Rocky trench problems Fortunately the hole for the turbine was easier digging which resulted in a nice neat hole.
