After I had finished mowing the meadows the grass needed to wilt before Geof and his son came with their huge tractors and specialist equipment, including round baling machine and wrapper. The baler picks up the grass from the fields and forms the large compact round bales, which are dropped off all over the meadows. Tia, Maria, Coco and Channel, Elliot's 4 grown up sheep are feeling the cold a little more today. Local sheep shearer Michael removed their big woolly coats ready fro the summer. Tia looses her bid woolly coat The fleeces are just right for removal at the moment as the wool is starting to loosen naturally. If it is not removed soon it will start to fall out on its own. Barrrr it's cold!!! It must be a bit of a shock for the poor things, as its not very warm this morning, but the new wool soon starts to grow. By the end of summer they will...

Introducing the latest members of the Hoe Grange family

Animals, Family, Farm, General, Lambs,Lambs Elliot our son has taken on rearing 4 new lambs this year. Their mothers all had three lambs and would struggle to rear them all successfully, so one is taken off her and hand reared to give them all a better chance. This year we have 4 to feed, 4 times a day with a bottle! Elliot has named them Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte after the girls from 'Sex and the City'. Lets hope they don't get into as much trouble as their name sakes. They will have to learn to get along with all the other animals on the farm and have already ...
