Browse through our blog posts to find out what life is like at Hoe Grange Holidays along with some great ideas for hobbies and days out in the Peak District.
As the weather turns Autumnal and the wind turbine whizzes round in the increasingly strong wind (thankfully not Hurricane Sandy), I found myself loitering inside. So I decided to do something positive and bake some scones and cakes with the excuse of promoting our latest "treat yourself" idea.
Royal Crown Derbys Posie
Are you celebating a big birthday or anniversary whilst staying on holiday at Hoe Grange? Why not make the occasion extra special with a touch of elegance and penache by hiring our beautiful Royal Crown Derby Posie pattern fine bone china.
The inspiration for this stunning pattern with it's delicate summer colours can be traced back to the work of mid-eighteenth century flower painters.
The company goes back as far as 1750's, but really came to promenance when King George III recognised the uniqueness of Derby porcelain in 1775 and granted the factory the rare honour of being able to incorporate a crown into the backstamp. Much later, in 1890, Queen Victoria also gave Crown Derby her seal of approval not only by awarding the royal warrant, but also by granting the title "The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company".
Today rich colours and intricate gilding remain the hallmark of the destinctive Royal Crown Derby patterns and you can take a factory tour to see the skilled craftsmen at work.
For me there is nothing quite like drinking tea made in a proper tea pot, from a fine bone china cup and saucer, somehow it just tastes so much better, don't ask me how!
You can simply stick to afternoon tea and hire cups, saucers, tea plates, milk jugs, and a tea pot complete with a white linen table cloth and napkins, or you can splash out for a truly romantic meal and hire a full dinner service, with soup bowls, dinner plates, large meat plate, gravy jug and vegetable dishes, we have the full works!
For more details see our Treat Yourself webpage.
Go on treat yourself!
