Our enourmous mole is at work yet again and digging continues in various places around the farm!
David has been digging the trench for the new electric cables running up from the tradtional stone stables across the stack yard to the finished foundations ready for when the new Rainster log cabin arrives at Hoe Grange. We currently have 3 diggers of vairous sizes on site and David is becoming a dab hand at manoevering piles of earth and stone.
Two out of the three ground source heating trenches have been completed. Whislt we have generally been lucky with the weather here in the Derbyshire Dales, the recent rain over the last few days has meant that the final trench cannot be started yet. The ground is too wet and despite David's new skills the JCB digger just slips sideways in the mud.
Meanwhile JDB Groundworks have been levelling the farm drive, digging up the yard entrance and laying kerb stones in preparation for the tarmac to be laid next Monday. The farm drive which has always been uneven, and pitted with pot holes will shortly be as smooth as any motorway - a fantastic improvement for guests with low slung vehicles, neck problems or sleeping babies. Michael our middle son has just started learning to drive and can't wait for the tarmac to be laid - umm... perhaps we should have put in some speed bumps!
