“Moo”ving on – some exciting news!

July 23, 2009 - “Moo”ving on – some exciting news!

Rubbish or treasure?
Rubbish or treasure?

Everything seems extremely quiet at Hoe Grange after the hectic build up to our dairy sale - it really is quite strange -  I have even made it to school sports day for the first time! The majority of sale items have now been picked up; the last few heifers have left in cattle trailers today, the tractor and feeder wagon have been taken off on low loaders, the milking equipment in the dairy is being dismantled and the scrap lorry has fetched away the large pile of what I considered to be rubbish - but as they say one man's rubbish is another man's treasure! There are a few small bits and pieces left in the field, but generally very little evidence of our dairy herd left.

However time to "moo"ve on and some exciting news- as I said in the last blog, on to pastures new! Our planning application for two more log cabins for self-catering holidays at Hoe Grange has been approved, which is fantastic! We can now focus on the future and aim to have our third cabin, Rainster, ready for guests next Spring. We have learnt that there is a definite lack of quality accessible holiday accommodation in the area, so Rainster will have the same excellent facilities as our popular Hipley cabin, with full wet room shower and plenty of space for wheelchairs and extra equipment.

If you have stayed with us and have any ideas on how to improve the layout or facilities please get and touch and let us know asap. We want to learn from our guests and make Rainster even better  - if that is possible! We are also keen to  use sustainable and renewable energy, and will be exploring ways of reducing our carbon footprint.

It's all quite exciting, with a lot to do in a relatively short space of time - so much for retirement!
