Browse through our blog posts to find out what life is like at Hoe Grange Holidays along with some great ideas for days out in the Peak District.
These days there a dedicated day for just about everything, but we think beer and pizza is a brilliant combo! #beerandpizzaday
What could be better than combining the salty savoury crust of a pizza with rich cheesy toppings and a cool thirst quenching locally brewed beer? International beer and pizza day is on 9th October and a great excuse to indulge in this delightful combo and celebrate the good things in life!
Who doesn’t love pizza? Our special pizza evening experiences are definitely a hit with our holiday guests. So much so that some guests have gone home and bought themselves an outdoor pizza oven!
An evening spent creating and cooking your own pizzas in the open air is such a fun thing to do when you’re on holiday with family or friends. We make it as easy as possible for you by bringing the pizza oven to your door!
We provide the outdoor pizza oven outside your log cabin, glamping pod or gypsy caravan, along with eco fire lighters, kindling and logs to get the fire roaring. The hotter the fire the tastier your log-fired pizza will be when cooked on the sizzling stones.
Enjoy our homemade pizza dough created to our special recipe, along with tomato passata. All you have to do is bring along cheese and any extra toppings you fancy, such as pepperoni, mushrooms, pepper, pineapple, prawns, mozzarella, tomatoes, olives – and so the list goes on as everyone has their favourite toppings!
It such a wonderful way to enjoy the outside space with everyone having a go at making their own pizzas. The semolina in our dough gives that little extra crunch and is enhanced by the smoky wood-fired flavour to make the perfect pizza. Here's our special Hoe Grange Pizza Dough Recipe for you to enjoy.
Enjoy a pizza oven experience at just £25 for two people, £45 for four or £60 for six of you.
To make the perfect experience all you need to add is some locally brewed beer from Aldwark Artisan Ales. As we said before beer and pizza are a winning combination!
We love show casing local artisan producers and you couldn’t get much closer than Alwark Artisan Ales brewed less than 2 miles from Hoe Grange!
Jenny and her husband Ian gave up milking cows in 2017 and started brewing beer using water from their own bore hole, filtered through the strong limestone hills of the Peak District. With Ian’s flair as a chemist they have created the ‘AAA’ range of craft ales which we can personally highly recommend.
David’s favourite ale is Roan, a twist on an old Irish recipe, it’s a light amber bitter with a hint of smoke and spice. Roger Allen our resident watercolour artist prefers Frankenstein Porter which is a little stronger.
The Lomas family still have beef cows on the farm who enjoy the leftover grains from the brewing process.
Once again we try to make life easy for you so you can relax and enjoy your holiday to the max.
Although we are unable to sell beer in our little shop as we don’t have an alcohol licence you can buy beer direct from Jenny at Aldwark Artisan Ales and have it delivered to your accommodation ready for your pizza oven evening.
Alternatively you can pop into Matlock and enjoy a pint and live music at The Farmacy Pub, also run by Jenny and family, or buy a bottle or two at Wirksworth Farmers Market, (first Saturday of the month) or visit the brewery bar at Aldwark on Saturdays throughout the summer.
Don’t forget to add your pizza oven evening experience to your booking - it could be the highlight of your holiday!
