Green Growth Award winners
Another trophy for our shelf - and even greener holidays for you
Sometimes you set off for an event thinking, "Well, at least we'll get a nice lunch out of it" - and then you come home with a national award!
That's exactly what happened when we headed to BT's headquarters in London last month for the first-ever Green Growth Awards, hosted by Small Business Britain and BT.
As we walked into a room packed with hundreds of people, we were overwhelmed by how many amazing small businesses were there. It was a real who's who of sustainable innovation, and honestly, we thought our little tourism business in the Peak District would just get lost in the noise.
After a glass of fizz and some lovely chats with fellow finalists, we took our seats. Matt Tebbutt (who you might recognise from Saturday Kitchen!) gave a fascinating insight into how he thought about sustainability as a chef, and David couldn't resist asking him a farming question (of course).
But it was when Matt turned to announcing the winners that things started to get more exciting. He said something about "holidays" and our ears pricked up. Then came "Derbyshire" - we glanced at each other. Finally, "accessible"...and we thought, 'This has to be us, right?'
We raised our hands hopefully when he asked if anyone recognised themselves, and suddenly all eyes (and cameras!) were on us. What a moment... We were absolutely beaming as we walked up to collect our award. We couldn't believe it!
Why this award matters - for you

Winning the Green Growth Awards means so much to us. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword here at Hoe Grange - it's part of everything we do, from the way we heat and power our log cabins and glamping pods to our approach to supporting local businesses to what we do to protect wildlife on the farm.
But more importantly, this award isn't just about us. It's about what it means for you, our wonderful guests...
Game-changing technology

Thanks to the £5000 sustainability prize that came with the award, we've been able to add extra battery storage to our renewable energy set-up. That might sound like a small tweak when we've already got so much solar and wind power - but it's a game-changer.
It means we can store even more of the renewable energy we produce here on-site and use it when the sun's not shining or the wind's not blowing. So the next time you stay in one of our gorgeous glamping pods or cosy log cabins, your getaway will be even more eco-friendly - perfect for those seeking eco holidays in the Peak District!
We're already proud to have cut our carbon footprint by 77% in the last three years, and this takes us even closer to our goal of reaching Net Zero well before 2030.
If you're curious about all the ways we put sustainability into action, you can find out more on our environment page.
Cheers to sustainable business
We also wanted to give a quick shout out to the only other winners at the awards, the brilliant team at Cooper King Distillery in York. They're England's first Net Zero whisky distillery, so we're in worthy company. Just like us, they're proving that small businesses can lead the way when it comes to eco innovation. Cheers to that!
Now just to arrange some kind of official business exchange - David wants to know if they'll swap a glamping mini break for some bottles of whisky...
Fancy a feel-good escape?

If you're dreaming of a little countryside retreat that's kind to the planet (and your soul!), now's the perfect time to book a break. Our lovely glamping pods and spacious log cabins are luxurious, cosy and packed with eco-conscious touches to make your holiday feel truly special - and you'll be staying somewhere that's officially award-winning when it comes to green holidays.
So thank you, again, to everyone who has supported us - whether you've stayed with us once or returned year after year. This award may have our name on it, but really it's for all of you who choose to travel sustainably!
See you on the farm soon.
