Browse through our blog posts to find out what life is like at Hoe Grange Holidays along with some great ideas for days out in the Peak District.

Imagine you’re soaking in a steaming outdoor bath, solar lights twinkling around you, birdsong in the background and a sky full of stars overhead as dusk descends. It feels indulgent, peaceful, and perfectly private. But what if we told you this new little glamping luxury at Hoe Grange Holidays is also packed with purpose?
If you're after a countryside escape that’s gentle on the planet but big on luxury, Skylark's secret is worth knowing. And yes, you can book your stay today.

It’s been nine years since Skylark glamping pod first welcomed guests. From the start, we made sustainable choices that reflect our eco values: FSC-certified timber for the frame, sheep’s wool insulation, so much kinder to the environment and to work with, high tech, low-energy infrared heating. But we didn’t stop at the essentials, we commissioned a bespoke glass window in the bathroom door, handmade by a local artist, Juliet Forrest, and inspired by our surrounding landscape.
Sustainability isn’t something we bolt on at the end. It shapes every decision we make, from sourcing to refurbishing. We’re always striving to improve the guest experience, never standing still, but we never compromise on what matters.
So why add an outdoor bath to one of our gorgeous glamping pods now? Because we wanted to offer a new way for guests to experience the natural beauty of Hoe Grange, without using more than we need. An outdoor bath gives that relaxing soak many of you crave, but compared to a hot tub it uses significantly less water and far less energy to heat.
It’s a double-ended tub, giving couples space to stretch out together, or for you to enjoy a peaceful solo soak. There’s no humming motor of an electric hot tub, just birdsong and breeze. A romantic retreat, designed with simplicity and sustainability in mind.
One guest told us, “I was in there a good couple of hours staring into the hills of sheep and sunshine. DIVINE!” They were the first to try the new bath, and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

When we say we built this ourselves, we mean it! Farmer David got to work with his mini digger to level the area. The area was fenced out with a zig zag top to give a bit of character and privacy before the recycled bath was put in place. The bath surround? Natural stone sourced from Longcliffe Quarry, just a mile up the road. The paving stones leading to the bath to protect your feet? Leftover from a previous project. The fairy lights that make it magical at night? Solar powered LED low energy bulbs.
Fudge, our resident Jack Russell and self-appointed Guest Entertainment Manager, kept a close eye on proceedings. She’d like you to know she supervised to make sure David was working hard enough and personally tested the sunshine levels in the new seating area. Our little granddaughter Wren also kept an eye on progress.
It’s a space made with care, not concrete. Every material was chosen thoughtfully. Every bit repurposed with pride.

Skylark’s new outdoor space is more than just a bath. It’s a peaceful corner to reconnect with nature. Watch the wildlife from the tub. Sip a cuppa while the sun rises. Enjoy a glass of something local as the solar lights begin to glow.
You’ll also find a bistro table and chairs for alfresco meals. The pod remains just as cosy inside, but now the outside offers a whole new kind of calm.
Whether you're marking a special occasion or simply seeking a switch-off moment, this is the kind of place that feels like a treat – without costing the earth.
We built this for guests who care about comfort and care about the planet. Who like their getaways peaceful, personal, and just a little bit extra special.
Skylark is waiting – come and discover its secret for yourself.
