Our commitment to accessible holidays
Since 2019, we have been proud supporters of Purple Tuesday. At Hoe Grange Holidays, we take pride in offering award-winning, accessible holiday accommodation that caters to the diverse needs of our guests.
Purple Tuesday is a global movement that focuses on improving the accessibility of businesses and ensuring that disabled customers have a more inclusive and positive experience. As part of this initiative, each year, participating organisations like ours make a new commitment to enhance their accessibility. For Purple Tuesday 2024, we are excited to expand the range of equipment we provide, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to accessible tourism.

What is Purple Tuesday?
Purple Tuesday is an international event that encourages businesses to improve their accessibility practices to better serve disabled customers. Taking place annually on the second Tuesday of November, it highlights the need for organisations across all sectors to take action towards inclusivity, focusing on customer service, facilities, and staff training. This year, Purple Tuesday will be celebrated on 12th November 2024.
The initiative, led by Purple Tuesday, offers practical guidance and resources to help businesses implement changes that make a significant difference for disabled customers. Each participating organisation must pledge to make at least one new commitment each year, implement it, and celebrate their achievements on Purple Tuesday.
Our 2024 Purple Tuesday Pledge
For Purple Tuesday 2024, our pledge at Hoe Grange Holidays was to expand the range of dementia-friendly and sensory equipment available to our guests. We believe in continually evolving to meet the unique needs of our visitors, and this year, we are proud to introduce:
Dementia-friendly activities and resources

- A box of activities specially designed to help guests with dementia engage in meaningful activities and interact with their loved ones, including games and communication tools
- Dementia-inclusive signage that can be put up in our log cabins to help guests with dementia find their way around and feel comfortable
- A dementia-friendly clock
- Bide - a dementia-friendly fall prevention device to reduce the risk of a fall when getting out of bed at night
Sensory activities

A box full of tactile and sensory tools and activities to provide comfort and stimulation for guests with autism or sensory processing difficulties.
A weighted blanket

Available to guests who find comfort in deep pressure stimulation, often used by individuals with autism or anxiety.
All our accessible equipment is provided free of charge
These items are provided at no extra cost during your stay, making it easier for everyone to enjoy a relaxing and memorable holiday experience. They have been recently introduced and are already proving very popular. It's really easy to add these items to your holiday - simply select the right tick box on the online booking system, or email us.
Why is accessibility important?
Creating an inclusive and positive experience for disabled customers is important to us for so many reasons!
Every person deserves the chance to enjoy a holiday, no matter their physical or cognitive disabilities and challenges. Ensuring that we offer accommodations and services that are accessible to all is a vital step towards equality.
By providing equipment and services that cater to specific needs, such as our dementia-friendly and autism-friendly activities, we empower individuals to enjoy their holiday with confidence and give a sense of independence.
Offering tailored accessibility solutions leads to better guest experience. When visitors know their needs are being catered for, they are more likely to return and recommend us to others.
Supporting initiatives like Purple Tuesday demonstrates that we are dedicated to continuously improving and adapting our offerings to meet the ever-changing needs of our guests. We listen to guest feedback and use this to improve our services and facilities.

Our ongoing commitment to inclusivity
At Hoe Grange Holidays, we have always prioritised accessibility. We are delighted that Mike Adams, Founder of Purple Tuesday, appreciates our ethos of welcoming all and says we "really have gone above and beyond to meet the needs of your disabled customers". Hoe Grange Holidays has also been used as one of Purple Tuesday's case studies.
Over the years, we have earned accreditations for being Dementia-Inclusive, thanks to The Sargent Group, and for being Autism-Friendly, recognized by the National Autistic Society. But we don’t stop there. We continually strive to enhance our offerings so that guests of all abilities can enjoy a seamless, comfortable, and enjoyable stay.
Our newly added activity boxes and weighted blankets are just the latest step in our journey. We understand that holidays should be a time for relaxation and joy, and by providing specialised equipment, we can ensure you have everything you need for a peaceful, stress-free getaway.
This Purple Tuesday, we are proud to stand with other businesses worldwide in celebrating the strides we’ve made—and continue to make—towards a more inclusive, accessible world. Find out more about our accessible holidays.
