This year, as we celebrate all that makes Derbyshire special, we've uncovered a local treasure for you to savour during your stay – Derbyshire Tea. Full of flavour, this tea embodies community spirit and sustainable values.
Every morning as the sun peeks over the Peak District hills (or sometimes well before that in the winter!), I start my day with a cup of tea. I love the familiar ritual of making a pot with loose leaves, just like my mother did when I was little. It feels like a special treat to have a quiet moment to reflect and enjoy the stunning view before I start work.
Recently, I discovered Derbyshire Tea, a brew born and brewed right here on our doorstep. And I love it so much that we’ve decided to include it in our welcome packs. So now when you arrive to stay you can enjoy a lovely cup of tea with our homemade oatie biscuits.
But this delightful tea is more than just a beverage; it's a testament to the deep sense of community we have in the area. Derbyshire Tea owes its exceptional taste to the discerning palates of hundreds of Derbyshire tea lovers who participated in a "Derbyshire taste test." Their unanimous verdict? It's simply delicious. And I couldn't agree more.
Derbyshire Tea's local blend and packaging align seamlessly with our commitment to reducing food miles. By offering it in our on-site shop and including it in our welcome packs, we contribute to reducing food miles and minimising our environmental footprint.
With plastic-free, biodegradable tea bags and fully recycling packaging, Derbyshire Tea fits in well with our ambition here at Hoe Grange to do everything we can to protect our beautiful environment, and support other local businesses.
Whether I'm in the mood for a traditional brew or a decaf delight, loose tea or bags, there’s a range of options to suit my morning vibes.
I usually top it up with a splash of Peak District Dairy milk, the perfect pairing. Looking out over the farm, every sip feels like a celebration of what Derbyshire and the Peak District has to offer. The misty mornings, rolling hills and lowing cows – they’re all part of this wonderful place I call home.
Moreover, Derbyshire tea makes for an ideal breakfast companion when served alongside Derbyshire oatcakes, bacon, and eggs. You might like to try your hand at making your own Derbyshire oatcakes using our Derbyshire oatcakes recipe.
On this Derbyshire Day, let's raise our tea cups to toast the spirit of Derbyshire and the splendid flavours it has to offer. As you explore Derbyshire, remember that it's not just a place; it's an experience, and it all begins with the perfect cup of Derbyshire Tea, so savour every sip!
