Filming for the awards Beautiful brilliant sunshine today here in Derbyshire for the video shoot for the Enjoy England Excellence Awards on 15th April, when we have been shortlisted in the Access for All category. David secured the starring role, whilst I was cast with a non speaking bit part in the distance - hey hoe! The crew also wanted to film the farm animals, which took some considerable time trying to get the free rannge hens and sheep in the right place, and the horses to come trotting across the field. David ended up feeding ...
David laying it on thick with his trowel! This week David has been busy building an easy access ramp into the new Daisybank self catering log cabin, in preparation for our first guests and a photo shoot of our new facilities. It will be brilliant for everyone - wheelchairs, pushchairs, guests who bring bikes and young children. Yesterday the contractors came back with a hugebreaker to split the two enormous rocks we unearthed so that they could be scooped out of the way, ready for David to concrete the foundations for the new Rainster log cabin - a very effective tool as you can see from the photo. With snow, blue skies and sunshine our holiday guests also had a smashing time in the snow sledging down the steep slopes leading up to the High Peak Trail. It is however a very different picture here in Peak District today with much heavier snow...
You will be pleased to hear that following the incident with the Fox in the night there are 4 new arrivals at Hoe Grange to keep our golden silky (now named Lucky after her fortunate escape) company - well I couldn't leave her all alone. They are all Warrens, a good reliable egg laying breed, and are settling in well, although as you can see from the photo Lucky is not entirely sure about the new recruits! Who's eating my dinner! The new free range hens are a year old and already laying eggs for our guests - why not book a holiday with us i...
