Walking Holidays UK
Walking holidays
UK are a fabulous way to experience the wonderful and varied
English countryside. As people are able to travel further more
easily than ever before and have more leisure time, walking is
becoming one of the most popular outdoor pursuits in the UK,
along with cycling. Walking is a fun healthy activity and even
more importantly it costs virtually nothing! Whether you are
an adventurous hill walker, a serious rambler or a gentle ambler
there is a route to suit everyone's level of fitness.
There is a wealth of walking holidays UK, but some of the
best scenery and circular routes can be found in the Peak District
in Derbyshire. Situated on the edge of the Peak National Park,
Hoe Grange Holidays offers 4 star luxury self-catering accommodation,
surrounded by superb and dramatic limestone scenery. The two
log cabins can easily accommodate a large group of up to 14 walkers
and have all the modern facilities you would expect, including,
full central heating, fully fitted well-equipped kitchen with
dishwasher, fridge and freezer, TV, DVD, and luxury whirlpool
bath to soak away the aches and pains of a long day's hike over
the hills. For dedicated walkers who venture forth in wet conditions
Hoe Grange Holidays also provide over night drying facilities.
The
cabins are in prime position on a farm, which is adjacent to
The High Peak Trail, now part of the National Pennine Way, so
there are miles of safe off-road walking, across a varied landscape.
Close at hand Carsington Water also provides a 9 mile paved circuit,
which is a great hit with those who have families, as the children
can also hire bikes. Hoe Grange Farm is just 5 miles away from
the famous Thorpe Cloud and Dove Dale, from where the walker
can explore the many miles of well-marked paths, along the picturesque
dales or climb up on the ridges to take in the stunning panoramic
views.
Further afield the famous walks of the Dark Peak beckon, including
the Mam Tor circuit and the Goyt Valley. The rocks of the Dark
Peak are grit stone and shale, acidic rocks laid down in a large
river delta that eventually became the Pennines. It is an area
of stark beauty and a must for walkers who enjoy more of a challenge
across the bleak moors. Derbyshire has much to offer those who
are searching for walking holidays in the UK.
