Our farm

Belted Galloways at Hoe Grange      Free range hens at Hoe Grange      Aberdeen Angus Bull at Hoe Grange

WORKING FARM

Remember that Hoe Grange is a working farm complete with the usual countryside noises of cows, early dawn chorus, clucking happy free range hens, muck spreading, silaging and the occasional farmyard smell!

Very occasionally tractors may be working late into the night (But not very often if David can help it)

We will be happy to give you a guided tour of the farm, to show you the animals by arrangement, but for your own safety please do not wander around unattended.

Tractor

Calf

The odd cow may blort for it's calf - we have tried telling them to be quiet, but it doesn't always work!

STAR GAZING

The good news is that you are in the middle of nowhere and there is no light pollution, so on a clear night you will have a fantastic view of the stars.

BE SAFE

Always wash your hands after petting or feeding the animals!

bulls head cartoonSafety is extremely important as there are many hidden dangers, such as bulls, slurry pits, machinery and equipment.

Watch out for tractors in and around the farmyard and do not let your children wander around unsupervised outside of the cabin croft. It is especially important that they do not climb on the hay barns.

There must be no smoking anywhere within the farmyard.

Please use the gates or styles and do not climb the stone walls. Stones can often be loose and you may fall, or hurt yourself or cause the wall to collapse.

BE TIDY

Quad bikeThe farm must be kept litter free for the safety of the animals. Please be careful to clear away all your rubbish.

Please do not feed the animals as their diet is carefully controlled and all feed used is traceable to its source to protect the public. Whislt you might like the free range hens other guests may not be so keen to see them on the decking outside the cabins! If you would like to feed them and collect the eggs please ask Felicity.

Gates are closed for a reason, please leave them as you find them to avoid animals getting loose or wandering on to the road.
