Holidays for the Disabled

Good quality disabled holidays can be hard to find, but at Hoe Grange Holidays we have given careful thought and consideration to providing easy access and facilities for the less able guest. Hoe Grange Holidays provides two superb self-catering luxury log cabins in a beautiful country setting. The log cabins are cosier than a traditional cottage; fully centrally heated with double glazing and have all the mod cons that you would expect from quality 4 star accommodation, including LCD TV, DVD, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. The cabins are situated in a wonderful setting looking out over the striking limestone rocks and the undulating farm fields.

If you are looking for disabled holidays, the two bed roomed Hipley log cabin has been designed specifically for those with limited mobility, visual or hearing impairments.

Access to the Hipley cabin is well provided for by large gently sloping ramps, complete with sturdy handrails, and all the thresholds are level. Your parking space is on level ground within a few meters of the building and there is plenty of outside lighting for those dark winter nights.

Inside there is ample space for those who use a wheelchair, particularly in the bedroom where there is sufficient clear space under the beds to allow for the use of a hoist if you choose to bring one. The shower room has been designed as a wet-room wheel-in shower, with hand support rails, plenty of transfer space and an adjustable showerhead with thermostatic control. All taps are lever operated and there is a shower stool available should you need it.

Great thought and attention has been given to detail to aid the less able guest without compromising style e.g. specially designed wardrobes with shelving and lower clothes rails, light switches within easy reach and doors that don't get in the way. The kitchen has good low-level storage space and you can easily reach all the appliances.

For those with visual impairments the doorframes and skirting boards, door handles, and handrails are of contrasting colours. To aid vision there is a good level of lighting throughout, including external lights. Although we do not normally allow pets in the cabins we do welcome assistance dogs, and there is ample room for them to walk and exercise, so that they too can have a holiday.

For those with hearing impairments, all televisions have subtitle facilities, alarm clocks have flashing lights and vibrating modes and a portable door chime is available on request.

The cabin, unlike many other holiday cottages, is serviced personally to maintain a high standard and the owners are on site should you need them. At Hoe Grange we aim to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible, a real home from home.
